Scout Marie Wamsley was born and raised in New York City. Since she was little, her parents immersed her in the art world, from museums to gallery openings to theatre. With an ever fantastical eye for life, she discovered The Lord of the Rings and her life took a turn. The DVDs of the making of the films were watched time and time again, showing her a path that she had not known existed until that point. Creating and visually communicating worlds, characters, and fantastical cultures became a fascination that bled into everything she created going forward. She was first given a sewing machine at 8 years old, taught herself how to sew, and for the better part of the next 20 years she passionately pursued costume design & creation. She received her AAS in Fashion Design from Fashion Institute of Technology, and her BA (Hons) in Costume for Performance from London College of Fashion. In 2013 she received Second Place and the First Time Entrant Award at World of Wearable Art in the Weta Workshop section judged by a hero of hers, Sir Richard Taylor. A year later she began working as a dresser on Broadway while taking freelance costume design & stitching work. When she met her partner, Adam Wamsley in 2017, they began making photos together and realized that they needed to bring their mutual love for fantasy into their work. Thus, Nightshade.Studio was created.

Scout and Adam reside in New York City and they work together to bring otherworldly realms to life in front of the camera.
